To get a Tax Compliance Certificate (TCC) in Kenya, you must apply through the iTax platform. The process is now a full self-service system, meaning if you are compliant, the certificate is generated automatically without KRA staff intervention.
Step-by-Step Application Process
- Log in to iTax: Visit the KRA iTax Portal and enter your KRA PIN and Password.
- Navigate to Certificates: Click on the ‘Certificates’ tab on the top menu and select ‘Apply for Tax Compliance Certificate (TCC)’.
- State Reason: Select the reason for your application (e.g., job application, tender, or license renewal).
- Submit: Click the ‘Submit’ button.
- Download: If you have no pending returns or debts, a download link will be generated immediately. A copy is also sent to your registered email address.
Key Requirements for Eligibility
To qualify for a TCC, you must meet the following conditions as of February 2026:
- Filing Returns: All tax returns for all applicable obligations (e.g., Income Tax, VAT, PAYE) must be filed on or before the due dates.
- Tax Payments: All taxes due must be paid in full.
