The Akiba Mkononi will enable Airtel subscribers to save, with as little as KES.5, deposits/withdrawals and earn up to 7 percent interest. The provider claims Akiba Mkononi is one of the most attractive products currently in the country.
Akiba Mkononi customers have a chance to save from KES .5 – 140,000 daily on their UBA bank accounts using Airtel Money. To opt in, Airtel money customers need to dial *368# and follow prompts from their Airtel line.

How to Register for Akiba Mkononi account.
- Dial *368# On your Airtel handset
- Choose “register from the options and
- Input your identification document -ID, passport or alien ID number
How to Deposit to Akiba Mkononi Account.
- Go to “Airtel money” on your phone
- Pick “Make Payments” then, “Paybill”
- Choose “others”
- In Enter Business Name put the word “akiba” (exclude quotes)
- Enter the amount (from 100)
- Enter Airtel money PIN
- The “Reference” will be your number in the format 254733122866 (use 254 and do not use + sign)
Check Akiba Mkononi Account Balance
- Dial *368# on your Airtel handset,
- Select ‘Mobile banking’ option, Reply with 1
- Enter Airtel Money PIN
- select ‘Check Balance’ option, Reply with 1
- The balance will be displayed on your screen.
Transfer Money from Akiba Mkononi Account to Airtel Money account.
- Dial *368# on Airtel
- select ‘Mobile banking’ option and Reply with 1
- Input PIN
- Select ‘Transfer to AirtelMoney’ option, Reply with 2
- Input the amount you want to transfer.
- Confirm your PIN
