How to Register for NSSF Kenya

To register for NSSF (National Social Security Fund ) in Kenya is straightforward and can be done either online or in person. The process depends on whether you are an employee or self-employed. Check NSSF balance here

Before you start, ensure you have the following:

  • Original and Copy of National ID Card (or Passport/Alien ID).

  • Active eCitizen Account (if registering online).

  • Introduction Letter from Employer (Only if you are employed).

  • KSh 200 (Only for self-employed/voluntary members to activate the card).

How to Register for NSSF Kenya: A Step-by-Step Guide

Method A: How to Register for NSSF Online via eCitizen (Recommended)

  1. Log in to your eCitizen account.

  2. Search for National Social Security Fund (NSSF) in the service list.

  3. Select Member Registration.

  4. Fill in your personal details exactly as they appear on your ID.

  5. Print the confirmation page generated at the end.

  6. Visit an NSSF branch: Take the printed form and your ID to the nearest NSSF office to verify your details and receive your NSSF Number/Card.

Method B: Register for NSSF via USSD Code (Quick Registration)

  1. Dial *303# on your mobile phone.

  2. Follow the prompts to register as a new member.

  3. This is the fastest way to get a pre-registration number, but you may still need to visit a branch to collect your physical card.

Method C: Manual Registration at Huduma Centres and NSSF Branches

  1. Visit any NSSF Branch or Huduma Centre.

  2. Fill out the Member Registration Form (available at the counter).

  3. Submit the form along with your ID copy (and employer letter if applicable).

  4. Your details will be captured, and you will be issued an NSSF number immediately.

How to Activate Your NSSF Member Account

Once you have your NSSF number, you should activate your online profile to track your contributions:

  1. Go to the NSSF Self-Service Portal.

  2. Click on Member Activation.

  3. Enter your username, password, and the Pin Key provided at the NSSF office.
