What is M-Pesa Global?

M-Pesa Global is a Safaricom money transfer service that is used to send and receive money  all over the world by M-PESA registered customers. Safaricom M-PESA Global has been enabled by partnering with other money transfer services which include: Western Union, mHits, Post Finance, SkyForex, Skrill, WorldRemit, XendPay, Xpress Money, Moni Technologies, MoneyGram, P2pCash, Azimo, Transfer Galaxy, Vodacom Tanzania, MTN Rwanda and MTN Uganda.

What you Need to Use M-Pesa

Be an M-Pesa registered customer

How to access M-Pesa Global Via USSD

• Dial *840#
• Accept terms and conditions by selecting 1
• You will get the following message “You are opting in to M-Pesa global enter M-Pesa pin”.
• Once you Enter your PIN , you will receive an SMS from Safaricom to dial *840# again
• Accept the 1 option to send money Abroad
• you will be asked the transaction type: Whether to

1. Send to mobile number
2. Send to bank account
3. Send to Western Union location

Lets look at Using Western Union

• You may choose option 3 because it is more convenient
• Since you are sending to a new recipient pick it as an option
• Enter the first name
• Enter the last name
• Enter the middle name
• Enter amount in Kes (101-70000/-)
• Pick a destination. For instance, Uganda
• Enter the purpose of the fund e.g Gift
• Select source of fund e.g savings
• You will be required to confirm the recipients above information then select option 1 to confirm to finalize on the transaction.

The minimum amount of money to be sent is KSHS 101 and the maximum amount is KSHS 70,000.

The money that is sent is received in Kenya’s currency.

Using Mpesa Global Via MySafaricom APP

My Safaricom App is also another convenient method of using MPESA Global to send money. To use it you should have My Safaricom App already installed on your phone. If you don’t have it download it from your App store.

How to use My Safaricom APP to send money Globally

• Ensure you have reliable internet connection, open the app and click MPESA
• Enter MPESA Global
• OPT IN
• Accept the terms and conditions provided
• Enter your MPESA pin
• Wait for the confirmation SMS
• After receiving the SMS choose the convenient method to transact eg western union

MPESA Global is slowly gaining way into East African countries like Tanzania, Uganda and Rwanda. You can now send money from the comfort of your home. For instance, send school fees to Uganda for college purposes, buying supplies from Rwanda or sending money to your family in Kenya, receive money from your business partners from Tanzania e.t.c. you can also send money back to Kenya by dialing:

• *830# when in Rwanda using an MTN line
• *165# when in Uganda using an MTN line
• *150# when in Tanzania using a Vodacom line
