How to Use the Kenya Power MyPower App
To use the Kenya Power app, known as MyPower App, you can download the redesigned version (released in late 2025) from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store.
Registration and Setup of mypower app
- Create an Account: After downloading, launch the app and register using your Phone Number, ID Number, and Email Address.
- Manage Meters: You can add multiple accounts (e.g., for different properties or rentals) by entering the meter or account numbers.
- No Login Option: For quick checks, the app offers a “No Login Required” feature to view your latest bill or token history instantly by simply entering your meter/account number
Key Features of MyPower App and Usage
- Buy Tokens / Pay Bills: Select the “Buy Tokens” (prepaid) or “Pay Bill” (postpaid) option. Enter the amount, and you will receive an M-Pesa prompt to enter your PIN to complete the transaction.
- Self-Meter Reading: For postpaid users, navigate to My Account Summary > Self Reading Registration to submit your own readings, ensuring your bills are based on actual usage rather than estimates.
- Bill Simulation: Use the “Bill Simulation” tool to estimate your upcoming monthly costs by entering the difference between your previous and current meter readings.
- Token/Bill History: Tap on My Bill/Token to see your last three token purchases or your current outstanding balance instantly.
- Jua For Sure: Verify the identity of Kenya Power staff or contractors at your door by entering their staff number into the Jua For Sure section to see their official photo.
- New Supply Application: You can apply for a new electricity connection directly through Mypower app by selecting New Supply Application and uploading required documents like your ID and land ownership certificates.
- Support and Outages
- Direct Support: The revamped app includes a direct chat link to Kenya Power’s WhatsApp support channel.
- Outage Alerts: Access information on scheduled power interruptions and report localized outages through the app’s interface.
If you ever have trouble with mypower app, you can still access most of these services by dialing the *USSD code 977# from your mobile phone.
