Most houses in Nairobi have migrated from post paid kenya power meters to pre-paid Kenya Power meters. With pre-paid Kenya Power meters, you need to buy tokens – similar to airtime scratch cards.. If for some reason you do not know your Kenya Power meter number you can retrieve it from the prepaid meter box( Consumer Interface Unit)

The 11 digit meter number will display ,scrolling from right to left
To buy Kenya Power tokens
- Go to your local electricity vendor
- Supply the operator with the meter number
- Supply the operator with the amount you wish to purchase
- You will receive a 20 digit token printed on a receipt
Kenya Power prepaid tokens are available from vending stations and can also be purchased through MPESA and AIRTEL MONEY 24 hours.
