LG’s NEW ENERGY SAVING FRIDGE

NAIROBI, Kenya, Oct 14 – Korean electronics maker, LG Electronics has introduced a new range of energy saving refrigerators into the Kenyan market.

The Low Voltage Start-ability refrigerators have an in-built power stabilizer which is meant to cushion customers against product breakdown caused by frequent power fluctuation. These fridges have the benefit of operating from 135v to 290v, while power stabilizers cut off power as soon as there is a power fluctuation.

“This new refrigerator has been designed with energy saving in mind and also includes an inbuilt voltage stabilizer thereby enabling our consumers to cut on costs by not requiring voltage stabilizers,” said Sailesh Kanani the Managing Director of Hotpoint Appliances that is LG’s sole home appliances distributor.

He said the launch of the fridge in the Kenyan market was timely keeping in mind the current erratic power supply and high cost of power.

The fridges will be targeting the middle and high-end of the market and will be retailing at Sh26, 695 and Kshs43, 995 depending on the capacity.

Last month, the Korean Electronics firm launched a steam washing machine which uses the power of steam to remove wrinkles and odors from clothing without the use of water or detergent.

The company’s Regional General Manager Mr. Won Woo Na said the firm would continue to tailor its products to meet the needs and demands of the customers who are keen on buying products that are cost-effective and serve additional functions.

“LG delivers products with features and options that enhance consumers every day lives without compromising on style,” he said.

The company is laying a lot of emphasis on energy efficiency and cost-saving in its latest products being introduced into the world market, Mr Woo Na added.
